Getting Started!

A quick guide to how towns, plots and other features work on TopazEarth.

Quick Navigation

1. Joining the Server

TopazEarth is a Towny-based survival server.

Once you join, read the rules and any messages at spawn, then decide whether you want to join an existing town or start your own.

2. First Steps on TopazEarth

This isn’t a basic Minecraft tutorial; here’s what matters specifically for this server:

3. Towny Basics

Towny is about turning normal chunks into protected land that belongs to a town.

Use /towny in-game to see Towny’s own help menus if you want more detail.

4. Joining a Town

Joining a town is the fastest way to get protected land and a community.

Most of the time you’ll be invited or the town will be open:

5. Creating a Town

If you want to run your own place, you can found a town and become its leader.

  1. Make sure you have enough gold for the town creation cost, which is 25.
  2. Stand in the chunk where you want your town spawn to be.
  3. Run: /t new <TownName>

As town leader you’ll probably want to:

6. Plots & Permissions

Plots are where people actually build. Each plot has its own owner and permissions.

You can open your plot up to trusted friends:

Leaders can also set default town permissions, but many towns handle this case-by-case.

7. Gold & Town Upkeep

TopazEarth uses gold as the currency for towns. Town creation, new claims and upkeep are all paid from the town bank.

In short:

The server automatically takes upkeep from the town bank, so towns should make sure there’s enough gold deposited to cover their claims.

If anything here ever conflicts with in-game messages, the in-game help and server rules always take priority.
